March heralds the beginning of spring. The days warm gradually which signal birds to stir and become more active. The frenzy of spring bird migration also begins.
In March, Cleveland Metroparks offers several, free bird walks and programs for novice and seasoned birders, alike.

Sunday Bird Walk
Sunday, March 10 � 9 - 11 a.m.
North Chagrin Nature Center � North Chagrin Reservation
Song sparrows singing, cardinals a-calling and buzzards returning can only mean one thing: spring is on its way! Bring the family for an easy, 2-mile bird walk and enjoy the beginning of bird migration and those already setting up territories. Some binoculars are available for loan. North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village. Practice bird identification while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Observe cardinals, chickadees, woodpeckers and more through one-way glass at the Nature Education Building's bird feeding garden. Volunteer Naturalist Fred Losi leads a fairly easy 3-mile hike along Tinker's Creek and through Circle Emerald Field. Enjoy the beauty of early spring and seek out early migrating birds. Beginners are welcome and some binoculars are available for loan. Hemlock Creek Picnic Area is located off Button Road in Bedford Reservation, just east of Dunham Road in Walton Hills.
