December Days at the Zoo

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
Whether you prefer the warmth of the tropics or feel you are more suited for the winter weather, December Days at the Zoo has something special for you. Enjoy holiday crafts, live music, photos with Santa (through December 24) in the Wolf Lodge, cookie decorating and more. And, visit animals in the Northern Trek, The RainForest or take the heated tram to the Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building. Winter admission to the Zoo is reduced to $8.25 for adults and $5.25 for children, ages 2 to 11. The Zoo is closed Christmas Day. Water's Extreme Journey Maze

Watershed Stewardship Center � West Creek Reservation
Water has a long and hard journey before it reaches our faucets. Start out as a water drop entering a watershed and navigate the maze, answer questions, complete puzzles and even fly across a zip slide. Make good choices in the maze to keep moving toward the clean ocean, or make bad choices and drop down the urban storm drain. Water's Extreme Journey is fun, educational, and the answer to the age-old question �What are we going to do today?� The Watershed Stewardship Center is located off the West Ridgewood Drive entrance to West Creek Reservation in Parma. Hike and Play at Acacia

Don't let winter keep you inside! Dress for the weather and join Naturalist Carly Martin for a short hike and some fun outdoor play. The program will be cancelled in the event of rain. Kids' Day at CanalWay

CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation
Enjoy a day of CanalWay entertainment just for kids while school is closed for winter break. Take a hike, make crafts, play games and watch a movie! Bring a packed lunch, water bottle and dress for the weather. This program is for children, ages 8 to 12. Registration and $20 fee are required. Family Fun Night

Put down the new toys and electronics and have some family fun. Enjoy a story, play some games and make a craft together. This program is for children, 4 years and older with an adult. Space is limited, so register early. Brecksville Nature Center is located off Chippewa Creek Drive, off the Route 82 entrance of Brecksville Reservation in Brecksville. Noon Year's Eve

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
Don't let the New Year pass you by! Bring the whole family to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for a New Year's Eve celebration 12 hours early. This family-friendly event features live entertainment, crafts, music, an ice-carving demonstration and a special countdown to noon complete with a ball drop in the Welcome Plaza. If you're looking for a little more thrill in your winter break, visit the Chalet Toboggan Chutes in Strongsville for a 70-foot drop down twin ice chutes. It's a fast, heart-pumping ride and the best part is you don't have to lift a finger. The Chalet toboggan lift takes each 40-pound toboggan to the top of the hill, where it will be waiting for you.
The daily admission fee is only $10 for adults, and $8 for children, ages 11 and younger, which includes unlimited use of the toboggans for the day. One-time ride rickets are also available for $4.
The Chalet is open December 22 and 23 from noon to 10:30 p.m., December 24 from noon to 4 p.m., December 26 - 30 from noon to 10:30 p.m., December 31 from noon to 5 p.m., January 1 - 4 from noon to 10:30 p.m. and January 5 from noon to 5 p.m. The Chalet is closed on Christmas.
The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio Turnpike.
