Cleveland Metroparks 18 reservations are open year-round - including the Park District's new Lakefront Reservation - and are great places to visit in every season. To celebrate this year's acquisition of the six lakefront parks formerly managed by the State of Ohio and recognize the importance of Cleveland, its lakefront and all the cultural assets that make Northeast Ohio great, the Park District is planning a special New Year's Day display at Edgewater Park. From Wednesday, January 1 through Sunday, January 5, families are invited down to the lower section of Edgewater Park to make photo memories at the display which will include a 7.5-foot-tall ice sculpture by Elegant Ice Creations, a makeshift forest of repurposed Christmas trees from Kall Tree Farm, and a special sandy snowman created by Cleveland Metroparks in-house exhibit builders. The Park District's Double Eagle concession trailer will be on site selling hot chocolate and snacks as well.We wanted to celebrate our progress managing the lakefront parks and create a fun token of our appreciation to the city and all the people who have taken the time to provide feedback and encouragement as we move forward with this ongoing process, said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman. We hope people will come down, have fun with a photo with the sandy snowman and experience the majesty of the lake in the winter.Park visitors will be encouraged to share their pictures with Cleveland Metroparks via Facebook and Twitter.Lower Edgewater Park is located off Exit 192 from the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway (Route 2). -30-MEDIA CONTACTS: SUE ALLEN - 216-635-3338, sja@clevelandmetroparks.comTOM ROBATIN - 216-375-4351, tmr@clevelandmetroparks.com
