Cleveland Metroparks announces Karen Fegan as the new controller in the Park District's Finance Department. As controller, Fegan will plan and organize both long and short term budgets for the Park District, conduct audits and financial reporting, and work in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer.
Fegan was most recently the director of finance for the City of North Royalton, a position held since 1998, where she oversaw all accounting functions, budget preparation, competitive bidding and investment responsibilities. She has also served as the vice-chair of the Board of Trustees for the Regional Income Tax Agency since 2000, working with mayors and finance directors to oversee $900 million in revenue for more than 220 communities statewide.
I look forward to building on the excellence, integrity and professionalism that Cleveland Metroparks represents, Fegan said. Not only is Cleveland Metroparks debt-free, but also the recipient of several prestigious awards on the state and national level for their responsible stewardship of public dollars and perfect state audits. This can be attributed to its first-rate Finance Department.
Fegan, of Strongsville, earned a bachelor of arts in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace University and a master of public administration from Cleveland State University's Levin College of Urban Affairs in 2009. Fegan is a certified public accountant and certified public manager. She is also certified through the Center for Public Investment Management from the State Treasurer of Ohio's Office.
