Are you bored with running or biking the same route day after day, past the same old scenery, training for the same old race? Break out of your routine and set a course for adventure in the great outdoors with two unique and exhilarating Cleveland Metroparks race events.
This September, Cleveland Metroparks offers the thrilling, high energy Ledges to Lake Adventure Race in the Hinckley Reservation and the challenging Steelhead Run 5-Mile Run/Walk in the Rocky River Reservation - both designed to provide competitive fun while experiencing the scenic beauty of Cleveland Metroparks.
The Ledges to Lake Adventure Race combines a three mile run, two mile kayak paddle around Hinckley Lake and nine mile bike ride into one outdoor tour de force! The race kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at the Spillway Picnic Area in the Hinckley Reservation.
Register as an individual: ages 14 and older, or team: ages 10 and older (with participating adult), or relay (two to three people): ages 14 and older.
Pre-register by Monday, September 2 as an individual ($55), team ($80), or relay ($100). Late (after September 2) or same-day registration is individual ($75), team (100), or relay ($120). A limited supply of kayaks can be reserved for $10 per boat.
Online registration is available at ncnracing.com and closes Friday, September 13 at 5 p.m. Registration includes a T-shirt, while supplies last.

The second September race celebrates the return of steelhead trout to the Rocky River. Participate in the scenic yet challenging Steelhead Run 5-Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, September 28 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Enjoy this five-mile run along the Rocky River during the season when steelhead also "run" the river. The course leaves the Emerald Necklace Marina in Rocky River Reservation and follows Valley Parkway south to Hogsback Lane. The race continues uphill to the Stinchcomb Memorial and around the memorial trail before returning back down Hogsback Lane to the All Purpose Trail and finishing at the Marina.
Registration before September 27 is $20. Race day registration is $25. Online registration is available at hermescleveland.com and closes Friday, September 27 at 9 a.m.
