Today, although we don't see it, farming continues to touch our lives every single day.
Discover the importance of fresh from dirt to dinner at Cleveland Metroparks Farm & Garden Day event on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Garfield Park Nature Center in Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights.
Farm & Garden Day is a free event featuring the journey of getting fresh food from dirt to the dinner table. Enjoy a day down-on-the-farm with vendors and exhibitors, live farm animals, farm equipment, photo opportunities, and haywagon shuttles.
Local vendors will have products available from farmers and other items that can be used in a garden, including a heirloom plant sale and more. Plus, a local farmer's market will be set-up.
Free, tasting stations and children's hands-on crafts and activities will be going on all day, as well. And, kids can enjoy jumping in a huge mound of straw and throwing fistfuls in the air!
Visitors can also enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides for $2/person, too.
And, refreshments will be available for purchase.
Garfield Park Nature Center is located off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights - north of the I-480/Broadway Avenue exit.
