        Art is a great way to communicate with nature and relax. Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to explore the creative ways to engage with nature through these programs in May:


    Art Display: A Battle in our Backyards - Native and Invasive Species in Northeast Ohio

    Wednesday, May 1 through Sunday, June 30 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily

    CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

    This exhibit features two series of sustainable art by Emily Bryant. One is a collection of invasive insect collages made of pressed invasive plant species found in Northeast Ohio. The second features ethereal photographic collages of native species printed on sustainable bamboo paper. On display through June 30. CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights.     Gallery Wall: Ohio's Birds

    Wednesday, May 1 through Saturday, June 29 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily

    Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River Reservation

    View portraits of Ohio's birds as captured by photographer and bird bander Craig Fritz. Fritz photographs birds on location, but also captures and releases birds for banding, providing an exceptional opportunity to photograph them at a close range. On exhibit through June 29. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted. For more information, call 440-734-6660.



    Nature in May Print Show

    Thursday, May 2  through Friday, May 31  � 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily

    North Chagrin Nature Center � North Chagrin Reservation

    Cleveland Metroparks Photography Club - East presents the second annual spring print show of their best work. Nature is inspiring, so see unique and inspirational views of the natural work, whether far from home or locally. On exhibit through May 31. North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village.     Spring Sketching at the Lodge

    Sunday, May 5 � 1 - 3 p.m.

    Look About Lodge � South Chagrin Reservation

    Spring is full of bright colors and life. Try capturing spring on paper through some seasonal sketching. Bring a sketchbook and drawing utensils, or try watercolor pencils that are provided to use. Look About Lodge is located at 37374 Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between SOM Center Road/Route 91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville. For more information, call 440-247-7075.

    North Chagrin Nature Center � North Chagrin Reservation

    Come meet the members of Cleveland Metroparks Photography Club - East. Join them for a social hour of photographic talk and technique. Members will be on hand to discuss their passion and their prints. Refreshments will be served.  North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village.     Mid-Spring Photo Hike

    Bring a camera and capture spring at full swing along the river at Jackson Field, located off Jackson Road in South Chagrin Reservation, north of Miles Road in Moreland Hills. For more information, call 440-247-7075.
