Since its inception in 1970, Earth Day has been an environmental hug for the planet. People across the world celebrate the planet by planting trees, turning off their electronics and becoming a bit more environmentally conscious.

Earth Day Hike
Monday, April 22 � 9:30 - 11 a.m.
Old Harvard Road Trailhead � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation
What better place to celebrate Earth Day than along the so-called �burning river?� This hike meets at Old Harvard Road Trailhead and heads south with discussion on how pollution in the Cuyahoga River lead to a national call for action. Look for bald eagles along the way, too. Old Harvard Road Trailhead is located off Old Harvard Road in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Jennings and Harvard Roads in Cleveland. Hidden Valley Homeschool: Earth Day Hike

Get to know the history of the Cuyahoga River with this family-friendly Earth Day hike. Discuss bald eagles and their species' recovery, while searching the skies. This program is for children, ages 6 to 12. Registration is required. Bioblitz!

Watershed Stewardship Center parking lot � West Creek Reservation
Join Naturalist Jen Brumfield on a fast and fun bioblitz. Keep track of all the living things discovered, from animals to plants to mushrooms and more. This eye-opening adventure will challenge participants to see the all the small details in the world. Earth Day Hike

Enjoy a search for some hidden wildflowers. This hike meets under the Brookpark Road Bridge, located off Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, between Brookway Lane and Puritas Road. For more information, call 440-734-6660.
Join Cleveland Metroparks at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for the Party for the Planet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. All guests receive $2 off the regular admission rate.
The event features environmental education and family fun while highlighting the Zoo's sustainability initiatives, bio-diversity and how conservation efforts protect wildlife and wild places. Guests can enjoy animal enrichment demonstrations, Get Close animal encounters, entertainment from Radio Disney and local music groups, crafts and more.
