Ever wonder why leaves change color? Leaf color comes from
pigments, which are natural substances produced by leaf cells.
There are three pigments that color leaves: chlorophyll, cartenoid,
and anthocyanin. In the fall, leaves produce less chlorophyll,
which allows the other two pigments to show through. The leaves can
then become glowing yellows, sparking oranges and warm browns.
Also, be sure to check out the Parkways to Fall Colors brochure

Metroparks.

leaves in Cleveland Metroparks - part of your life,
