The leaves are changing and falling already! The year flew by
and winter is fast approaching. Soon the first snowflake will fall
from the sky and winter will be here. Whether that snowflake falls
or not, join Cleveland Metroparks at the Chalet Recreation Area for
the opening of the Chalet Toboggan Chutes!

Beginning Friday, November 23 and continuing through mid-March
2013, everyone is invited to the Chalet Recreation Area in
Strongsville to experience the thrill of tobogganing on ice with or
without the snow - on the only public ice chutes in
    Ohio!

The twin, refrigerated ice chutes are approximately 700 icy feet
long with an initial vertical drop of 70 feet. And, there is a new,
special surprise addition to announce soon!

Special Opening Day hours (Friday, November 23) are noon to
    10:30 p.m., weather permitting.

This season's public tobogganing hours are:

Thursdays 6 to 10 p.m. (in January, February and March
    2013)

     Fridays 6 to 10:30 p.m.

     Saturdays noon to 10:30
    p.m.

     Sundays noon to 5 p.m.

Holidays call for Holiday Hours (Dec. 23 through Jan. 6,
    2013, and January 21 & February 18)

The Chalet Toboggan Chutes provide a great winter thrill at a
great price!  The daily admission fee is only $10 for adults,
and $8 for children, ages 11 and under, which includes unlimited
use of toboggans for the day.

One-time ride tickets are also available for
    $4.

Season passes to the Chalet Toboggan Chutes are a great deal for
avid winter thrill-seekers.  Season passes are available at
$40 for adults, $30 for children, ages 11 and under, and only $110
for a family (up to four people).  Season passes purchased
    through December 24 are discounted!

Group discount rates, for 20 or more people, are available for
rides during public hours.  Groups must be scheduled at least
two weeks in advance.  Group rates are not valid for season
    pass holders.

The Chalet Recreation Area, including the use of the toboggan
chutes, can be rented for private exclusive use during non-public
hours.  Call 440-572-9990 for more information and to make
    reservations.

In addition to tobogganing on the refrigerated ice chutes, the
Chalet facility features two fireplaces (indoor and outdoor), a
main gathering area with a large-screen television, a snack bar, a
loft area with video games, and indoor restrooms.

All riders must wear gloves or mittens.  Children must be
at least 42 inches tall to ride, and must be accompanied by an
adult.  Personal toboggans are not allowed at the
    facility.

The two, refrigerated ice chutes are approximately 10 feet apart
for the entire length of the run, and are made from precast
concrete supported on caissons.  The caissons are drilled
concrete shafts extending approximately two-feet deep into the
ground.  And, because the chutes are refrigerated and with the
right weather conditions, they can be operable in temperatures in
    the low 50s!

The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in
Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in
Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio
    Turnpike.

For more information and for group or private reservations, call
    440-572-9990.

Get ready for toboggan season at the only public ice
chutes in Ohio - the Chalet Toboggan Chutes of Cleveland
Metroparks - part of your life, naturally.
