Monday, October 1st marked two attendance milestones for Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the one millionth visitor of 2012 and a total of 20 straight years with one million or more in attendance.

This year's one millionth visitor was Tara L. of Parma Heights, Ohio and her three children, Patrick, Piper and Phineas. They won a Zoo prize pack including a ZooParent animal adoption package from the Cleveland Zoological Society, limited edition Zoo posters and more.

The Zoo is very fortunate to have such a supportive community surrounding it in Northeast Ohio, said Zoo Director Steve Taylor. The public votes with its feet, and to have sustained such an attendance record for so long is evidence that people enjoy coming here and spending time with their families.

Fall is a great time to visit the Zoo. The temperature is more manageable, many of the animals are more active and there are plenty of special events - including Boo at the Zoo.

Last year, Boo at the Zoo sold out five of its eight nights and drew more than 40,000 people. This year, Boo at the Zoo runs from 6-9 p.m. October 18-21 and 25-28. Tickets for this year's spooky safari are available now at clemetzoo.com and at the Zoo's Box Office. General admission is $8, children younger than 2 are free and Zoo Society members receive $1 off each admission.

Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $12.25 per person, $8.25 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
