Some of the best golfers in town squared off this
past weekend at Manakiki Golf Course for the 2012 Cleveland
Metroparks Golf Tour Championship.
On Saturday, October 13 the 2012 Tour Championship, which
marks the conclusion of the 2012 Tournament Series within
Cleveland Metroparks, ended with true excitement. Despite the cool
weather, David Sotka remained on a hot streak, winning the Barbour
Cup event last week with partner Steve Blackburn, Jr., and cutting
his partner by one stroke at the Tour Championship event. Sotka
fired a solid 1- under par 71 to Blackburn, Jr.'s 72:
Tour Championship (ties broken by scorecard
playoff)
1st: David Sotka -
71
2nd: Steve Blackburn, Jr.- 72
3rd: Kory Oslie -

4th: Dave Stover -

5th: Warren Cohen - 79
The Tour Championship is a special invitation only tournament.
All participants must have had a top 10 finish at a designated 2012
Tournament Series tournament to receive and invitation.
The win was also enough to put Sotka well over the top in
points, crowning him the first Cleveland Metroparks Player of the
Year - an award for the number one cumulative point earner from
all Cleveland Metroparks Golf tournaments.
Player of the Year and Top 5:
1st: David Sotka - 126 pts.
2nd: Dave Stover - 88 pts.
3rd: A.J. Borisa - 86 pts.
4th: Nick Palladino - 80 pts.
5th: Steve Blackburn Jr. - 76 pts.
We consider the first year of the Player of the Year award to
be a real success. As the year progressed, interest really began to
grow and it is something we look forward to continuing for many
seasons to come, said Golf Pro John Fiander.
