The best way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to relax and have fun.
And a good way to have fun is to spend hours together laughing off
all that turkey and stuffing, while tobogganing down a 70-foot
vertical drop, traveling over 700 feet at the Chalet Toboggan
    Chutes in Strongsville.

The icy fun at Cleveland Metroparks Chalet Toboggan Chutes kicks
off Friday, November 23 and continues through March.  Everyone
is invited to the Chalet Recreation Area in Strongsville to
experience the thrill of tobogganing on ice.  Special opening
day hours (November 23) are noon to 10:30
    p.m.

Riders climb aboard a traditional wooden toboggan, but that's
where the tradition ends . . .  The twin, refrigerated ice
chutes are approximately 700 icy feet long with an initial vertical
drop of 70 feet.  It's a fast, fun, heart-pumping ride.
And, best of all, the Chalet Toboggan Chutes operate with or
    without snow!

Cleveland Metroparks Chalet Toboggan Chutes has also added a
new, long-awaited addition to the twin, refrigerated ice chutes - a
brand-new toboggan lift will be available this season, starting
    Opening Day!

The lift, designed and constructed by Cleveland Metroparks
in-house Site Construction and Building Trades crews, will utilize
a 12 horse-power motor, 5' diameter wheel set, and cable system
mounted at the bottom of the hill with a 20-foot wheel tower
installed on top to mechanically pull the toboggans on a tow 150
feet up the hill to a receiving deck where they will be stored.

Cleveland Metroparks staff will load and unload the new toboggan
lift. Riders can simply walk up the steps to the top of the chutes,
where the toboggans will be waiting for them to ride down the
    chutes.

This season's public tobogganing hours are:

Thursdays  6 to 10 p.m. (in January, February and March
    2013)

     Fridays 6 to 10:30 p.m.

     Saturdays noon to 10:30
    p.m.

     Sundays noon to 5 p.m.

Holidays  call for Holiday Hours (December 23 through
    January. 6, 2013, and January 21 & February
    18)

The daily admission fee is only $10 for adults, and $8 for
children, ages 11 and under, which includes unlimited use of
toboggans for the day.  One-time ride tickets are also
    available for $4.

Season Passes to the Chalet Toboggan Chutes are a great deal for
avid winter thrill-seekers.  Season Passes are available at
$40 for adults, $30 for children, ages 11 and under, and only $110
for a family (up to four people).  And, Season Passes
purchased through December 24 are discounted, making it an even
    better deal!

Group Discount Rates, for 20 or more people, are available for
rides during public hours.  Groups must be scheduled at least
two weeks in advance.  Group rates are not valid for season
    pass holders.

The Chalet Recreation Area, including the use of the toboggan
chutes, can also be rented for private exclusive use during
non-public hours.  Call 440-572-9990 for more information and
    to make reservations.

In addition to tobogganing on the refrigerated ice chutes, the
Chalet building facility features two fireplaces (indoor and
outdoor), a main gathering area with a large-screen television, a
snack bar, a loft area with video games, and indoor restrooms.

All riders must wear gloves or mittens.  Children must be
at least 42 inches tall to ride, and must be accompanied by an
adult.  Personal toboggans are not allowed at the
    facility.

The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in
Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in
Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio
    Turnpike.

For more information and for group or private reservations, call
    440-572-9990.

Start a new Thanksgiving tradition at the only public ice
chutes in Ohio, now with a brand-new toboggan lift - the Chalet
Toboggan Chutes of Cleveland Metroparks - part of your life,
    naturally.
