Cleveland Metroparks is offering a variety of programs and
activities that hopefully appeal to every mom. Whether it's a
bicycle ride, wildflower hikes, birding or sharing a meal together,
a nature escape awaits.

Native Plant Sale
Saturday, May 12 � 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Look About Lodge � South Chagrin Reservation
Look About Lodge is hosting a native plant sale just before
Mother's Day. Choose from a variety of native perennials. Sun,
shade, wet or dry, perennials will fill any yard or garden with
color. Landscaping with native plants is good for the planet
because they require little water and no fertilizer, plus they
provide food for butterflies, bees and birds. Look About Lodge is
located at 37374 Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between
SOM Center Road/Route 91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville.

Bird Banding at Rocky River Nature Center

See intricate details of birds as they are captured, banded and
released near the bird feeders. Learn about bird banding and why it
is an essential tool for studying birds. Drop in anytime between
the hours listed. The program will be cancelled during rain. Rocky

Tour de Necklace: BacciPark to Brecksville and

Ride along Ohio's National Heritage Corridor. The Ohio &
Erie Canal Towpath Trail always proves to be beautiful and
historically appealing. Meet at Bacci Park and bike 19 miles on the
Towpath Trail to Brecksville Reservation and catch a glimpse of
nesting herons and maybe a bald eagle! Registration, beginning May
1, is required. Bacci Park is located off Canal Road, adjacent to
Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between E. 71st

In Search of�Bees

Join Naturalist Traci Williams and look for one of nature's best
pollinators: bees. Learn how to tell the difference between bumble
bees and carpenter bees and how bees in their role as pollinators
benefit humans. Wear long pants and long sleeved shirt. North
Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off
the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM

School of The Wilds: Swallows

Hundreds of swallows (cliff, northern rough winged, tree and
barn) gather near the Rocky River in one special spot. Join
Naturalist Min Keung and hear the fascinating life history of
swallows, then venture on a 1-mile hike to view this magical place

Moms Hike For Their Supper

Kids can bring their moms to Look About Lodge for a delicious
Mother's Day meal. Upon arrival, all moms will take an invigorating
hike while everyone else stays behind to get supper (and a
surprise) ready! Dads are welcome, too. Registration, by May 10,
and $5 fee per person are required. Look About Lodge is located at
37374 Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between SOM Center
Road/Route 91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville. For

And don't miss the sixth annual �Morning with Mom� event
on Sunday, May 13, hosted by EarthWords Nature Shop at Rocky
River Nature Center. Treat mom or that special woman to a peaceful
escape surrounded by family, nature and soothing music. Enjoy a
light breakfast of muffins, fruit, and shade-grown coffee and
organic tea.
Rocky River Nature Center's EarthWords Nature Shop will offer
everyone participating 15% off all merchandise that day and moms
will receive a coupon for 25% off one non-sale item at a future
visit. Plus, EarthWords Nature Shop staff will take a family photo
and have it ready to take home as a Mother's Day 2012 keepsake.
Seating is limited. Reservations, by May 10, and a $3 fee per
person are required. Reservations are taken for every half-hour
between 10 a.m. - noon.
