Cleveland Metroparks is offering a variety of American Red Cross
training courses in June and July:
American Red Cross Babysitter's Training
Saturday June 12 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Park Operations Administration � Rocky River
Reservation
Ages 11 to 15 can gain skills needed to care for children and
infants. Through hands-on activities, videos and discussions,
students will be introduced to CPR/First-Aid and how to handle
emergencies, illnesses and accidents. Participants will also
receive guidance on how to make good decisions and solve problems,
write resumes and interview for jobs. Registration, by June 13, and
a fee of $70 ($50 for Ledge Pool season pass holder) per person are
required.
American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue
Friday, May 29 � 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Hinckley Lake Swimming Area � Hinckley
Reservation
This course provides the skills necessary to recognize and
assist with aquatic emergencies if lifeguards are not on duty. It
teaches participants how to protect their self while assisting
others. This course does not provide certification as a
lifeguard. Registration, by June 24, and a $58 fee ($38 for Ledge
Pool season pass holder) per person are required.
American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding
Monday, July 23 - Friday, July 27 � 9 a.m. - 1
p.m.
Ledge Pool & Recreation Area � Hinckley
Reservation
This 5-day program gives young adults (ages 11 to 15) a
jumpstart into a lifeguarding job. It provides a foundation in
aquatic knowledge, leadership, attitudes and a variety of
lifesaving skills. Participants must attend all five days.
Registration, by July 18, and a fee of $58 (($38 for Ledge Pool
season pass holder) per person are required.
