There is still plenty of time to register and train for one of
the most scenic 5K Races in Cleveland Metroparks.
Cleveland Metroparks new �Healthy People, Healthy Planet Fair
& 5K Run/Walk� is on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Big Cedar Point Picnic Area in Rocky River Reservation in North
Olmsted.
Runners and walkers can enjoy the 3.1-mile course that starts on
Valley Parkway at 9 a.m., and winds through the natural surface
trails and climbs up the 135 stairs to Fort Hill - with a great
view 90 feet above the Rocky River! The course continues down
the back stairs and to the finish line.
Awards will be given to the top overall male and female and the
top three males and females in the following age groups: 14 &
under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54,
55-59, 60-64, and 65 and over.
Registration is now open and available to print a form or
register online at "http://www.hermescleveland.com/">www.hermescleveland.com.
Pre-registration is open until Friday, June 8 at 9 a.m. for
$20. Late registration of $25 and packet pickup is from 2 to
7 p.m. at Rocky River Nature Center on Friday, June 8. Day-of
registration and packet pickup on Saturday, June 9 is from 8 a.m.
to 8:50 a.m. on race day.
And, Cleveland Metroparks needs everyone's help to break the
Guinness Book of World Record for the �Largest Group of People
doing Jumping Jacks� taking place after the 5K Run/Walk. The
Guinness attempt for the �Largest Group of People doing Jumping
Jacks� at the same time for one-minute will begin at 10:15
a.m. The record for the most people star jumping (jumping
jacks) simultaneously is 1,157 and was achieved by students at
Mamie Fay School in New York, New York on October 12, 2011.
The Guinness record attempt participation is free and interested
jumping jackers can pre-register by emailing "mailto:rockyrivernc@clevelandmetroparks.com">rockyrivernc@clevelandmetroparks.com
their name, address, city, state, zip, and number of people
attending the Guinness Book of World Records attempt. Add
Guinness World Record in the subject line of the email.
Check-in and day-of registration is from 8 to 10 a.m. The
staff from Fitworks will get everyone loose and stretched out from
10 to 10:15 a.m. and the attempt begins at 10:15 a.m.
And, the fun does not end after the run and Guinness attempt,
visitors can enjoy the �Healthy Planet, Healthy People Fair�
featuring vendors and exhibitors on how to care for the planet in
their own backyards, and taking care of the mind, body and
spirit.
Refreshments will be available, and adults, ages 21 and over,
can purchase beer at the �BeerGarden.�
Healthy Planet, Healthy People Fair & 5K Run/Walk is

Big Cedar Point Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in
Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North
Olmsted. Suggested parking is at Rocky River Nature Center,
