    National Trails Day� is the American Hiking Society's trail
    awareness program. Each year, events are held to help promote
    awareness of the wide variety of benefits that trails provide, to
    encourage people to discover their local trails, to raise awareness
    of trail issues, and to instill excitement for the outdoors. This
    year, June 2, marks the 20th anniversary of the
    program.



    Join Cleveland Metroparks in celebrating National Trails Day and
    go for a free hike on Saturday, June 2. Explore one of the many
    trails on your own or participate in one of the six organized hikes
    in Cleveland Metroparks that include:



    National Trails Day: More Walk Than Talk Hike



    Saturday, June 2 � 9 a.m. - noon



    The Shelterhouse Picnic Area  � South Chagrin
    Reservation



    Celebrate National Trails Day with an energizing 4-mile hike
    around South Chagrin Reservation. A picnic lunch is provided at the
    end of the hike. Registration by May 30 is required. The
    Shelterhouse Picnic Area is located off Hawthorn Parkway in South
    Chagrin Reservation, east of SOM Center Road/Route 91 in
    Bentleyville. For registration and more information, call
    440-247-7075.



    National Trails Day: More Talk Than Walk Hike



    Saturday, June 2 � 10 a.m. -
    noon



    Squaw Rock Picnic Area � South Chagrin Reservation



    Honor National Trails Day with a �stop and smell the
    wildflowers� 1.5-mile walk in South Chagrin Reservation. Enjoy a
    picnic lunch provided at the end of the hike. Registration by May
    30 is required. Squaw Rock Picnic Area is located off Hawthorn
    Parkway in South Chagrin Reservation, east of SOM Center Road/Route
    91 in Bentleyville. For registration and more information, call

    National Trails Day: Family Fun Hike



    Saturday, June 2 � 10:15 a.m. -
    noon



    Squaw Rock Picnic Area � South Chagrin Reservation



    Join in the celebration of National Trails Day with a fun,
    family half-mile hike that includes an opportunity to get your feet
    wet. A delicious picnic is provided at the end of the hike.
    Registration by May 30 is required. Squaw Rock Picnic Area is
    located off Hawthorn Parkway in South Chagrin Reservation, east of
    SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Bentleyville. For registration and more

    Carousel Hike



    Saturday, June 2 � 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.



    North Chagrin NatureCenter � North Chagrin
    Reservation



    Travel the ups and downs of North Chagrin Reservation trails
    with a full afternoon of hiking (5 miles). No agenda or
    expectations, just spending time discovering what nature has to
    reveal. North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls
    Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation,
    off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village. For more

    The Beauty of Bradley



    Saturday, June 2 � 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.



    Codrington Picnic Area � Bradley Woods Reservation



    Come explore the beauty of Bradley Woods Reservation. Although
    small in size, this reservation is packed full of diversity just
    waiting to be discovered. Wear footwear for wet conditions and long
    pants. Codrington Picnic Area is located off White Oak Lane in
    Bradley Woods Reservation, off Bradley Road in Westlake. For more

    Strawberry Moonlight Hike



    Saturday, June 2 � 8 - 9:30 p.m.



    Strawberry Picnic Area parking lot � North Chagrin
    Reservation



    Take an evening 2.5-mile hike and look for nesting birds along
    the ravine above Buttermilk Creek. As darkness descends, hike past
    moonlit meadows looking for white-tailed deer. Strawberry Picnic
    Area is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Strawberry
    Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center
    Road/Route 91 in Willoughby Hills. For more information, call
