Remember that adorable pup that Cleveland Metroparks Ranger
Department acquired in September 2011? That pup, Logan, has
grown in size, talents and skills.
The weekly training demonstrating Logan's instincts of following
commands that he is required to do had progressed well ahead of
schedule. He recently earned the dual-certification in
narcotics tracking and search and rescue from the Ohio Peace
Officers Training Academy as a police K-9 dog.
We knew Logan would be a hard-worker based on the history of
his father, Radar, one of our current K-9's and his uncle, Rocky,
another of our K-9's, stated Gregory M. Loftus, chief of
Rangers. All three K-9 dogs were donated to the department
from Tom and Kathy Schmidt, founders of Buckeye Area Regional K-9
(B.A.R. K.), and the dogs have proved to be a critical
law-enforcement tool.
Logan will be out and about all summer-long at various Park
District events. His handler, Senior Ranger Tim Garris, encourages
park visitors to come over and say hi as Logan is friendly and
enjoys the interactions.
