Small children are drawn to creative play, nature
exploration and trying new things. And, Cleveland Metroparks
not only welcomes children, ages 2 to 6, and their families, but
encourages them to explore, play, learn and more at the free
Knee-High Naturalists event on Sunday, June 24 from noon to 4
p.m. at the Arboretum in South Chagrin Reservation in
Bentleyville.
Knee-High Naturalists focuses on children, ages 2 to 6, and
their families to discover the wonderful world of the great
outdoors. Children can play and learn all afternoon with
nature games, make nature crafts, play in the discovery sandbox,
high-five the roving chipmunk, play in a pond playground and an
Earthboat, meet a naturalist, and more.
Visitors can learn about nature the fun way by playing on the
habitat felt board, and new this year, catch a live crayfish.
Plus, kids take a hike with Nora the Explorer!
There will be photo opportunities, too. Adults should be
sure to bring cameras to capture the lasting memories.
Light refreshments will be available for sale at the event.
Parking for the event is at The Shelterhouse Picnic Area,
located off Hawthorn Parkway, east of SOM Center Road/Route 91 in
Bentleyville - north of the Route 422/Route 91 exit. From The
Shelterhouse Picnic Area, visitors can cross Hawthorn Parkway to
the all purpose trail, which can be followed along Arbor Lane to
the entrance of the Arboretum.
