    Cleveland Metroparks Golf Offers Programs For Juniors And Adults

    This summer, juniors and adults, alike can improve their golf
    game through Cleveland Metroparks �Summer Golf Day Camps� and
    �Academy of Golf.�



    �Summer Golf Day Camps� are for boys and girls, ages 8 to 17,
    offered as 5-day learning opportunities over an eight-week period
    at Seneca Golf Course (440-526-0043) in Broadview Hts. or
    Washington Golf Course (216-641-1864) in Newburgh Hts. The golf
    camps include instruction, tips on etiquette and rules, playing,
    and on-course experience - all a great way to get kids interested
    in a great sport.



    Juniors can participate in any of the following camp weeks:



    o        June 11 - 15



    o        June 18 - 22



    o        June 25 - 29 (girl's
    only)



    o        July 9 - 13



    o        July 16 - 20



    o        July 23 - 27



    o        July 30 - August
    3



    o        August 6 - 10.



    The camps run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $200 per week. Campers
    should bring a packed lunch (optional lunch provided at Seneca for
    $25/week). Extended care is available for kids arriving at 8 a.m.
    and/or staying until 5 p.m. for an additional $25 weekly fee. 
    Space is limited.



    Adults can also improve their golf game with the following
    Academy of Golf
    class:                             



    The Golf Swing - The Fundamentals - 500 Series This
    hands-on clinic covers aspects of a solid, fundamental golf swing,
    including grip, set-up and swing. The class provides general,
    fundamental and basic instruction useful for players of every skill
    level, gender and age. A maximum of 7 participants per session.

    The mission of the Academy of Golf is to provide a variety of
    high quality learning opportunities for golfers of all skill
    levels, age and gender, to improve their golf skills, knowledge and
    enjoyment of the game and learn golf skills, traditions, rules and
    etiquette.



    The Academy of Golf and Camp coordinators are:



    � John Fiander - Fiander has 26 years of teaching
    experience, was named the 2003 �Teacher of the Year,� has received
    the PGA Specialty Teaching Certification, and has appeared in such
    publications as pga.com, usatoday.com, cleveland.com, and The Plain
    Dealer.



    � Jami Taylor - Taylor, a former captain of the
    GannonUniversity golf team, is a LPGA golf professional and
    clubhouse supervisor at Seneca Golf Course. She is also a past
    instructor of the First Tee of Cleveland.



    � Ryan Short - Short, Washington Golf Course clubhouse
    supervisor, is a PGA Training Level 1 graduate.
