Kids can learn the essentials of golf or improve their game with Junior Golf Clinics and Leagues from Cleveland Metroparks Golf.

The following programs for juniors are available this golf season:

    Junior One-Day Super-Clinic

A one-day clinic is hosted at Washington Golf Course on Friday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This hands-on clinic features lessons on the full swing, pitching, and putting.  Appropriate for brand-new beginners through early intermediate skill players. Advanced registration and $10 fee required.

    Junior Three-Day Clinics

These three-day, 75-minute per day clinics, similar to the Super Clinic, cover topics a bit more in-depth and include some golf rules and etiquette. Advanced registration and $20 fee requireded. The 3-Day Clinics are offered at the following golf courses: Shawnee Hills (June 12-14), Sleepy Hollow (June 19-21) and Manakiki  (June 26-28). Participation is limited.

    Pee-Wee Leagues

These three-hole entry level leagues are designed to introduce new players to the on-course golf experience.  Each foursome must have a parent or adult to walk along to supervise their children's safety and play. The league is for ages 6 to 10 (as guideline). Advanced registration and $10 fee required (no weekly greens fee). Participants play 3 holes per week for 5 weeks in June and July. Pee-wee leagues are offered at Shawnee Hills (Friday mornings) or Mastick Woods (Thursday mornings).

    Cadet Leagues

These are transitional leagues for players ready for more than the three-hole Pee-Wee League, but not quite ready for a full course experience. The league is for ages 8 to 13 (as guideline).  Advanced registration and $20 fee required (plus weekly junior greens fees - $6.50). Participants play 9-holes per week for 8 weeks in mid-June to early August. Cadet leagues are offered at Shawnee Hills (Mondays), Mastick Woods (Tuesdays). A special Cadet League with instruction is offered at Washington on Monday mornings for $110 (covers the green fees, instruction and range balls).

    Junior Leagues

These leagues are designed for intermediate skill players mature enough to handle 9-holes of regulation golf on their own. The league is for ages 11 to 17 (as guideline).  Advanced registration and $20 fee required (plus weekly junior greens fees from $7.50 to $9.50). Participants play 9-holes per week for 8 weeks in June thru August.  Junior leagues are offered at Shawnee Hills (Tuesdays at 10 a.m.) or Little Met (Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.).

    Advanced Junior League

This league is designed for the serious junior golfer with skills advanced enough to score below 50 on a regular basis on a regulation golf course.  A junior league player from the previous season should have a league handicap of 12 or less to participate. The league is for ages 12 to 17 (as guideline). Advanced registration and $20 required (plus weekly junior greens fees - $9.50). Participants play 9-holes per week for 8 weeks and a 18-hole  league championship from mid-June thru late July. The advanced junior league is at Big Met (Mondays at 11 a.m.).
