    Nature changes rapidly in April. The barren woods fades from
    gray to pale green as trees, plants and wildflowers spring to life.
    Let nature's beauty be a creative inspiration.



    Cleveland Metroparks offers a variety of creative arts programs
    in April. Programs range from art shows showcasing metal sculptures
    and wildflower photography to basket weaving and constructing a
    walking stick.



    The creative arts program offered in April include:



    Tim Haviland Art Show



    Sunday, April 1 to Monday, April 30 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.,
    daily



    CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal
    Reservation



    Come see the nature inspired metal sculptures of local artist
    Tim Haviland of Bird's Head Forge. From hand-hammered leaves to
    twisting and turning garden art, it's amazing to see how Haviland
    transforms steel into different shapes. CanalWay Center is located
    on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of
    Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal
    Road in Cuyahoga Heights. For more information, call

    North Chagrin Nature Center � North Chagrin
    Reservation



    To the nature enthusiast, what could be more welcoming than
    spring wildflowers after a long, cold winter? Bruce Mack, of
    Cleveland Metroparks Photography Club - East, will be displaying
    some of his spring wildflower photographs this month. North Chagrin
    Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the
    Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center
    Road/Route 91 in MayfieldVillage. For more information, call

    Earth-Friendly Jump Ropes



    Friday, April 6 � 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.



    Garfield Park Nature Center � Garfield Park
    Reservation



    Ever wonder what to do with those plastic grocery bags and old
    large Magic Markers? Bring them to the nature center and transform
    these items into a cool jump rope! Be sure to bring several plastic
    bags and two markers when coming to the program. The program is for
    ages 6 to 12, with an adult. Garfield Park Nature Center is located
    off Mill Creek Lane, off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield
    Park Reservation in Garfield Heights. For more information, call

    Paint the Colors of the Season



    Saturday, April 14 � 9 a.m. -
    noon



    Look About Lodge � South Chagrin Reservation



    Experience nature as it shifts with the seasons. Sketch the same
    subject at the same location each month throughout the year. Bring
    your own art supplies, or call by April 12 to reserve supplies to
    borrow. Digital cameras are recommended. The program is suitable
    for ages 14 and older. Look  About Lodge is located at 37374
    Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between  SOM Center
    Road/Route  91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville. For

    Make Your Own Walking Stick



    Sunday, April 15 � 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.



    Jackson Field � South Chagrin Reservation



    Make a walking stick and help control the invasive European
    black alder at the same time. Take a short, half-mile walk to cut
    down the saplings, then return to Look About Lodge to turn them
    into walking sticks. Jackson Field is located off Jackson Road in
    South Chagrin Reservation, north of Miles Road in Moreland Hills.

    Odds And Ends Basket



    Sunday, April 15 � 1:30 - 5:30 p.m.



    Look About Lodge � South Chagrin Reservation



    In this class, odds and ends leftover from previous classes will
    be used to make a small basket. Create your own design or use the
    pattern that is provided. This class is great for beginners. There
    is a $10 fee. Register is required by April 12 for this ages 12 and
    older class. Look About Lodge is located at 37374 Miles Road in
    South Chagrin Reservation, between SOM Center Road/Route 91 and

    Bridal Veil Falls parking lot � Bedford Reservation



    In honor of Earth Day, let Earth be an inspiration for sketching
    its natural beauty. Bring sketching supplies, and Naturalist Beth
    Whiteley will teach outdoor sketching techniques. Program is
    weather dependent.Bridal Veil Falls is located off Gorge Parkway in
    Bedford Reservation, between Dunham and Egbert roads in Walton

    Artist in the Park



    Tuesday, April 24 � noon - 2
    p.m.



    Old Boating Pond Bridge � Garfield
    Park
    Reservation



    Naturalist-Artist Stefanie Verish will be at Old Boating Pond
    Bridge sketching wildlife. Stop by for a look, or bring your own
    supplies and join Verish in an artistic endeavor, weather
    permitting. Park at Garfield Park Nature Center, located off Mill
    Creek Lane, off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park
    Reservation in Garfield Heights. For more information, call

    Field Botanical Illustration



    Saturday, April 28 � 10 a.m. - noon
    -or- 1- 3 p.m.



    Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River
    Reservation



    Come and be �planted� in a field with a palette of petals. Allow
    creativity to blossom while exploring spring wildflowers through
    artistic media. Supplies will be provided. Bring a portable chair.
    Registration is required by April 25 for this ages 12 and older
    program.  Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley
    Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in
