Ready, aim, shoot! The Zoo's annual Photo Safari contest for amateur photographers returns April 1.
Entering is easy, just take your best shot on Zoo grounds between April 1 and November 1 and submit it on photographic paper by November 1.
Photographers can focus their inspiration on several different categories including Bird, Mammal, Plant/Insect, Amphibian/Reptile/Fish, Friends/Family and new this year, a special RainForest category celebrating the exhibit's 20th anniversary. There's also a junior category for kids ages 2-11.
Every month from April to October, the Zoo will choose a pic of the month and post it on the Zoo's blog, The Roar Report, at clemetzoo.com. Monthly winners are eligible to win Zoo tickets as well as regular Photo Safari prizes.
At the end of the contest, judges will award prizes in each category and a Best in Show photo will be chosen. Prizes include Zoo memberships, Cleveland Metroparks golf passes, Discount Drug Mart gift cards and a behind the scenes Zoo tour. Winning photos also will be displayed in the Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building.
Entry forms are available in the Zoo's Exhibit Hall or online at clemetzoo.com. Limit three photos per person.
