Summer nights are perfect for exploring Cleveland Metroparks.
After the hot sun goes down, the family fun heats up throughout the
Park District.
Evening programs in July range from full moon hikes and
campfires to overnight campouts and catching fireflies, including:
Full Moon Hike
Tuesday, July 3 � 8:30 - 10 p.m.

Reservation
The forest comes alive on summer evenings! Join Naturalist
Bethany Majeski on a 1.5-mile hike under the light of a full moon
and search out bugs, bats and beavers that come out to play as the
sun goes down. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley
Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in

Great American Campout
Saturday, July 7 � 5 p.m. through the next

South Chagrin Reservation
Spend an evening camping out in South Chagrin Reservation. Enjoy
dinner, fun outdoor activities, a night hike, camping under the
stars and breakfast around a campfire. A list of needed items to
bring, including a tent, is provided upon registration.
Registration, by July 3, and a $15 fee per person are required for
this ages 7 and older accompanied by an adult program. For

Inviting The Planet To Dinner: Tea

Whether it's iced or hot, herbal or black, tea has ancient
appeal. Learn about fair trade organic tea from teahouse master and
certified herbologist, Sarah Hurt. Her local business, t by Sarah,
provides hand-blended teas and tisanes for a healthy lifestyle. Tea
tastings are provided. Registration, by June 25, and a $10 fee are
required for this adults-only program. Rocky River Nature Center is

Second Saturday Storytelling: Tales From The
Silk Road

Caravans carrying silk, Persian carpets, spices and other exotic
goods along the ancient Silk Road also carried travelers who shared
traditional tales from China to the Black Sea around the fireside.
These tales are the inspiration for this program presented by the
Hassanali Family Storytellers. Following refreshments, the audience
may share a tale, too. This program is for adults and older
students. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley

Summer Night Flashers

Reservation
Lightning bugs, also known as fireflies, are one of
summer's wonders. Join Naturalist Gretchen Motts and discover
what makes these night flashers so interesting. Bring a plastic jar
for catching fireflies. After a special ceremony, the fireflies
will be released into the night. Registration, beginning June 29,
is required for this ages 3 and older accompanied by an adult
program. Lagoon Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Rocky
River Reservation, between Cedar Point Road and Spafford Road in

Campfire

Meet at Rocky River Nature Center's Trailside Amphitheater
(along the trail behind the nature center) for a summer campfire.
Singers Gus and Kathy Ubaldi will entertain folks with songs and
stories. After the fire dies down, everyone can gather round to
roast marshmallows. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000

Late Nights With Nature

Here is an opportunity to go �mothing.� Find out more about
these beautiful and underappreciated cousins of the butterfly. Take
a 1.5-mile hike along the trail and see which moths and other
nocturnal creatures might be out and about. This program is for
adults and children, ages 8 and older accompanied by an adult.

Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation,

S'more Extravaganza

Look About Lodge � South Chagrin Reservation
Come and enjoy an evening around the campfire. Sample some
really crazy s'more treats, both sweet and savory! Registration, by
July 25, and a $5 fee per person are required. Look About Lodge is
located at 37374 Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between
SOM Center Road/Route 91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville.

And, don't turn in early! Stay awake for Cleveland Metroparks
Nature At Night special event on Saturday, July 14 from
5 to 11 p.m. at North Chagrin Nature Center in North
Chagrin Reservation in Mayfield Village. Visitors can enjoy a
variety of free activities related to the night, including: live
nocturnal animal programs, astronomy and stargazing through
telescopes, children's crafts, a marshmallow roast, and self-guided
night stations. And, pack a blanket and watch the movie "Yogi
Bear " on the lawn beginning at 9 p.m North Chagrin
