Cleveland Metroparks is looking for the best senior golfers in
    the Greater Cleveland area!

Linksters, ages 50 and over, can test their skills against other
golfers to compete in the 8th Annual Senior Greater
Cleveland Amateur Championship event on Wednesday, July 18 and
Thursday, July 19 at Big Met Golf Course in Fairview Park.

Last year, Elyria's Norton Brick defended his crown with a
seven-under-par 137. Brick started the day with a 2 shot
lead.  He increased his lead with 5 birdies and an eagle in
his first sixteen holes.  He stumbled just a bit with a bogey
    at 18, but still shot 35-34 - 69 to finish with a comfortable 4
stroke victory.  Fred Colli and Michael Mintz tied for second
in the tournament, both shooting a 141 total. Scott Heran also came
in under par at 142 for 4th place. Don Rader shot 155 to win the 70
& Over. This is the fifth time Brick has won the event.

The two-day, 36-hole stroke play event is open to any amateur
golfer of any gender or residence, who is age 50 or older, with
recommended current handicaps of 8.4 or less to reasonably
    compete.

The event tees off on July 18 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.,
and continues on July 19, teeing off between the same times. In all
rounds, male contestants will play from the men's tees and females
will play from the forward tees. USGA rules apply for all play.

All ages compete for the Senior Championship title. There will
also be separate prizes for players, ages 60 to 69 (Super Senior
Division), and 70 and older (Super Senior Golden Division).

    Caddies and spectators are welcome.

A $75 entry fee and advanced registration are required. Greens
fees are part of the entry fee.  Carts are optional and not
included in the fee, but can be rented the day of the
    tournament.

Registration is required by Sunday, July 8.  Space is
    limited.

Big Met Golf Course is located at 4811 Valley Parkway in Rocky
River Reservation, just off the Wooster Road hill in Fairview
    Park.
