Cleveland Metroparks is rich in history. So, why not hike and
learn about some local history through two free, fascinating hikes
with a bit of a history lesson intertwined.
This August, learn what life was like �way back in the day' with
Cleveland Metroparks at the following programs in Ohio & Erie
Canal Reservation:
First People in the Valley Hike
Sunday, August 5 � 9:30 a.m. - noon
West Canal Road Trailhead� Ohio &
Erie Canal Reservation
Take a long, easy morning hike on the Towpath Trail. Along the
way, learn about various Native American sites that dot the
Cuyahoga Valley, including Southpark. View prehistoric artifacts at
CanalWay Center, then hike back. Registration is required for this
ages 10 and older hike. The West Canal Road Trailhead is located
along the Towpath Trail in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation,
between Rockside Road and the I-480 underpass. For more details and

Rails to Trails Walk
Saturday, August 18 � 2 - 3 p.m.
Bacci Park Trailhead � Ohio &
Erie Canal Reservation
The Village of Cuyahoga Heights has constructed a new trail at
Bacci Park as part of the Rails to Trails movement. Walk the trail
with a Cleveland Metroparks interpreter to explore the nature and
history of this newly accessible area. Cuyahoga Heights Bacci Park
is located off Canal Road, adjacent to Ohio & Erie Canal
Reservation, between E.71 Street and Warner Road in Cuyahoga
