If there is one thing a Cleveland winter typically can provide, it is snow and temperatures below freezing.

Join Cleveland Metroparks to celebrate the winter season at the new Winteriffic event on Sunday, January 6 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Chalet Recreation Area in Strongsville.

    Event-goers can enjoy:

    • Dog Sled Demonstrations - Noon, 2 and 4 p.m.
    • Snowshoe Rental and Instruction -  ($13 per person) - Noon to 4 p.m.
    • Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides with a Naturalist  - ($5 per person) - Noon to 4:30 p.m.
    • Winter How-To-Dress Demonstrations - 12:30, 1:30 and 3 p.m.
    • Ice Fishing Demonstrations - 1 and 3:30 p.m.

Plus, visitors can enjoy ice sculpting demonstrations, winter crafts for kids, a snow shelter and snowman building areas, refreshments for sale and many other snow activities!

Even if there's no snow, there are plenty activities for visitors to enjoy, including the Chalet Toboggan Chutes - the only public ice chutes in Ohio, now with a brand-new toboggan lift! The Chalet Toboggan Chutes operate with or without snow. The daily admission fee for tobogganing is ONLY $10 for adults and $8 for children, 11 & under.  One-time ride tickets are available for $4.

Food and refreshments will be available for sale at the Chalet concession stand.

The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio Turnpike.
