Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to enjoy the winged beauty
of monarch butterflies before they make their way south for the
    winter.

Learn more about these metamorphic wonders through these free
programs and a special event in September:

    Family Friday Night: Monarch Waystation

    Friday, September 7 6 - 7 p.m.

North Chagrin Nature Center's Nature Education Building
    North Chagrin Reservation

As winter gets nearer, butterflies migrate south for the winter.
But they can't do it without some food along the way. Join
Naturalist Mindy Murdock for a program on starting monarch
waystations. While parents learn, kids can make a butterfly craft.
Then, head outside to discover who's fluttering by. North Chagrin
Nature Center's Nature Education Building is located behind the
nature center, off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane
entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91
in Mayfield Village. For more information, call 440-473-3370.

    Migrating Monarchs

    Saturday, September 8 1 - 3 p.m.

    Brecksville Nature Center Brecksville Reservation

Monarch butterflies are beginning their journey to Mexico.
Before they leave, visit local prairies and meadows in search of
these amazing migrating insects, and help tag and release them for
the Monarch Watch program. Brecksville Nature Center is located off
Chippewa Creek Drive, off the Route 82 entrance of Brecksville
Reservation in Brecksville. For more information, call
    440-526-1012.

    Monarch Migration

    Tuesday, September 11 2 - 3:30 p.m.

    Center Park West Creek Reservation

The forest ridges, meadows and riparian corridors of West Creek
Reservation provide a refuge for migrating monarchs and
dragonflies. Join Naturalist Jen Brumfeld on a search for these
incredible insects and songbirds, too. Binoculars are recommended.
Meet at Center Park on Park Drive, accessed off of State Road in
Parma, adjacent to West Creek Reservation. For more information,
    call 216-341-9225.

    Monarchs in the Meadow

    Sunday, September 16 1:30 - 3 p.m.

Strawberry Picnic Area North Chagrin Reservation

Head into the meadows filled with blooming goldenrod in search
of migrating monarch butterflies. Try to catch and tag these flying
friends so their 2,000-mile trek to Mexico can be documented.
Strawberry Picnic Area is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off
the Strawberry Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM
Center Road/Route 91 in Willoughby Hills. For more information,
    call 440-473-3370.

And don't forget about the free Monarch Magic event on
Saturday, September 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at  North Chagrin
Nature Center at North Chagrin Reservation! Get up-close and
personal with these beautiful winged travelers. Enjoy
presentations, hikes, butterfly banding, movies, crafts,
refreshments and more! North Chagrin Nature Center is located off
