Before there was Taylor Swift, there was another kind of
swift-the Chimney Swift!
Chimney Swifts are small, swallow-like birds that gather in
flocks and take shelter in inactive chimneys, smokestacks or
airshafts during the summer months. However, with buildings being
torn down and new ones built without chimneys, the Chimney Swifts
are often left homeless. Cleveland Metroparks has begun building
makeshift chimneys throughout the parks to house the swifts.
Join Cleveland Metroparks for several opportunities in and
around the Park District to see these magnificent birds in action
before they take flight for the winter.
