Relief from one of the hottest summers on record is on its way, but it's not too late to visit the Zoo to check out this summer's official Hot Spots.

Professor Wylde's Live Animal Show in the Savanna Theater is one of the most popular summer Hot Spots at the Zoo. Professor Wylde runs three times daily through Labor Day, and then moves to weekends only through the end of September. In Australian Adventure, camel rides end for the season on September 3 as well as the live animal presentation at Camp Ballarat.

Look for other Hot Spots including elephant crossings at African Elephant Crossing, giraffe feedings, chances to meet the animal keepers, Get Close Animal Encounters, lorikeet feedings and the African Elephant Family Play Maze - many of which run through the end of October.

From now through Labor Day, September 3, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo features extended summer hours on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. After Labor Day, the Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And as the sun sets on summer, it's time for the moon to rise on fall and Northeast Ohio's favorite spooky safari -- Boo at the Zoo! Tickets for the annual sell-out event, scheduled this year for Oct. 18-21 and 25-28, go on sale Monday, August 13. Tickets will be available at the Zoo box office or online at clemetzoo.com. Boo admission is $8 and Zoo members receive a $1 discount. Children younger than 2 are free.

(Note: Due to the Labor Day holiday, free Zoo admission for residents of Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township will not be offered on Monday, September 3.)

Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with hours extended to 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission is $12.25 per person, $8.25 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
