    Cleveland Metroparks is offering a variety of American Red Cross
    training courses in May:



    Lifeguard Instructor Course



    Tuesdays / Thursdays, May 15 - 31 � 4 - 9 p.m.



    Park Operations Administration � Rocky River
    Reservation



    AND Lakewood High School Pool



    This course trains candidates to teach basic-level Lifeguarding,
    Water Lifeguarding, Waterpark Lifeguarding and Shallow Water
    Attendant (including first aid), Lifeguard Management, CPR/AED for
    the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen,
    Bloodborne Pathogens Training and Basic Water Rescue courses. Class
    is Tuesday/Thursdays, May 15 through 31. Participants must be age
    17 and older and have a current American Red Cross/First Aid
    certificate. Registration, by May 11, and a fee of $190 (includes
    materials) per person are required.



     



    Waterfront Lifeguarding Skills Module



    Saturday, May 19 � noon - 6 p.m.



    Wallace Lake � Mill Stream Reservation



    This courses is for individuals who currently possess an
    American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid Certification and need to
    become certified to work at a waterfront location. Successful
    completion certifies the participant in Waterfront Lifeguarding,
    First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, valid for two
    years. Participants must be age 16 and older. Registration, by May
    17, and a $70 fee (included materials) per person are required.



     



    Lifeguarding Course



    Monday, May 21 - Friday, May 25 � 9 a.m. - 5
    p.m.



    Ledge Pool & Recreation Area � Hinckley
    Reservation



    This 5-day class teaches skills to respond quickly and
    effectively to emergencies, prevent drownings and injuries at a
    pool and waterfront locations. Successful completion certifies
    participant in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the
    Professional Rescuer, valid for two years. Participants must be age
    16 and older. Registration, by May 17, and a fee of $190 (includes
    materials) per person are required.



     



    Water Safety Instructor Course



    Mondays / Wednesdays, May 21 - June 6 � 4 - 9
    p.m.



    Ledge Pool & Recreation Area � Hinckley
    Reservation



    This course trains participants to teach all American Red Cross
    swimming and water safety courses. Lifeguarding is not a
    prerequisite. All classes are mandatory; no exceptions.
    Participants must be age 16 and older. Registration, by May 17, and
    a fee of $190 (includes materials) per person are required.
