PRESS CONFERENCE/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:
On Friday, May 4 at 2 p.m., Cleveland Metroparks
will celebrate the acquisition of Rivergate from the Cleveland
Rowing Foundation.
A brief press conference will be held with additional
information on the project, and there will be an opportunity for
attendees to ride in a dragon boat and see sculls, kayaks and
stand-up paddleboards.
Rivergate is a 2.8-acre parcel in the center of Cleveland's
Flats District on the east bank of the Cuyahoga River, and is part
of an 8-acre complex assembled by the City of Cleveland, Cleveland
Rowing Foundation and the Trust for Public Land.
Cleveland Metroparks will manage and enhance Rivergate so
it will be accessible to the public and give visitors a chance to
connect with the Cuyahoga River, said Brian Zimmerman, executive
director of Cleveland Metroparks. Plans include a safe
launch area for people-powered watercraft, a waterfront promenade,
a concession area, restrooms and an outdoor classroom.
