Cleveland Metroparks Historical Interpreter Foster Brown and
EdenValley storyteller/author Bette Lou Higgens merge artistic
talents to present a series of history programs every Saturday in
May at 7 p.m. at Brecksville Nature Center. �Turning Points in Ohio
History� - a historical series through story and song artfully
presents local history through melody and memorable tales. Each
program is filled with fun facts to strengthen audience members'
grasp of Ohio history.
This series of historical programs at Brecksville Nature Center
include:
Ohio & Erie Canal � May 5
Songs and stories that celebrate the importance of this man-made
waterway which created major turning point in Buckeye history.
Ballads of the Inland Seas � May 12
Come hear facisnating stories and songs of ships that sailed the
Great Lakes and learn of some who met their demise.
Battle Scars - Stories of the Civil War �
May 19
Come hear little-known stories of prison camps, great escapes,
failed plans, and unfortunate circumstances of the Civil War.
From Crash to a Bang � May 26
Take a journey through the Great Depression and learn how
Ohioans coped and survived through one of the nation's hardest
times.
Admission is $5 per person (children, ages 8 & under, are
free). Reservations are recommended, but not required. Space is
limited.
Brecksville Nature Center is located off Chippewa Creek Drive,
off the Route 82 entrance of Brecksville Reservation in
Brecksville.
