Cleveland Metroparks Zoo celebrates Father's Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19 with FREE admission for all dads to the Zoo and The RainForest.
The Zoo has special activities planned throughout the day including a free African Elephant Crossing coloring book for the first 1,000 kids younger than 12.
Then from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. families can check out the giant coloring mural and construction vehicle display near the African Elephant Crossing Family Play Maze, make a set of elephant ears at the craft station near Savanna Ridge, or learn more about some of the Zoo's most interesting animals with a Get Close encounter on the Welcome Plaza.
A special "Cans for Conservation" aluminum can drive will be held that day as well to benefit elephant research projects in Botswana and Namibia. Cans will be collected at a display near the main entrance gate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. cans that have been collected so far will be crushed with a steamroller near the Sarah Allison Steffee Center for Zoological Medicine.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with hours extended to 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission is $11 per person, $8 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
