    Spring will soon be in the air! The white snow is almost gone
    and new colors will soon be popping out throughout Cleveland
    Metroparks - the colors of spring wildflowers!



    Everyone is invited to check out the many free wildflowers
    programs offered in April:



    For Women Only



    Friday, April 1 � 10 a.m. - noon



    Squire's Castle Picnic Area � North Chagrin
    Reservation



    Come join other women for exercise and camaraderie and recharge
    after a busy week.  This month, explore North Chagrin
    Reservation in search of early spring wildflowers. Bring a water
    bottle and invite a friend.



    Squire's Castle Picnic Area is located off Chagrin River Road in
    North Chagrin Reservation, south of Chardon Road/Route 6 in
    Willoughby Hills. For more information, call 440-473-3370.



     



    Wildflower Walk



    Saturday, April 2 � 10 - 11:30 a.m.



    Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River Reservation



    April is a wonderful time to discover spring wildflowers. With
    longer days and shorter nights, wildflowers are now emerging and
    adding their spectacular color to the forest floor. Join this walk
    in search of these beauties. Rocky River Nature Center is located
    at 24000 Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar
    Point Road in North Olmsted. For more information and to register,

    Cottonwood Picnic Area � Rocky River Reservation



    Join Naturalist Bethany Majeski for a pleasant morning stroll in
    search of spring's ephemeral beauties. Never had the pleasure of
    discovering an early wildflower? This is a great place to start.
    Cottonwood Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Rocky River
    Reservation, south of Puritas/Mastick Road in Fairview Park.

    Sunday, April 3 � 1 - 2:30 p.m.



    Highland Picnic Area parking lot � Euclid Creek
    Reservation



    The peak wildflower show is yet to come, but the reservation is
    turning green again and the newly-arrived spring is welcome. See
    some early signs of flowers and maybe find a few early bloomers.
    Highland Picnic Area is located off Euclid Creek Parkway, off the
    Highland Road entrance of Euclid Creek Reservation in Euclid. For

    Wildflower Walk



    Wednesday, April 6 � 1- 2:30 p.m.



    Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River Reservation



    Join Naturalist Intern Dave Miller for a leisurely walk to see
    local wildflowers. End the walk with a tour of the Hauser
    Wildflower Garden at Rocky River Nature Center, located at 24000
    Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point

    marsh marigolds and skunk cabbage. Rocky River Nature Center is

    Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, between Spafford Road and Falls

    Hike the hills and ridges above Squire's Castle and search for
    the first spring wildflowers and early migrant birds. Squire's

    Reservation, between Cedar Point Road and Spafford Road in Brook

    Explore the Scenic Loop Trail with Naturalist Mindy Murdock for
    wildflowers. Learn the folklore behind those delicate beauties.
    Bring a camera. Strawberry Picnic Area is located off Buttermilk
    Falls Parkway, off the Strawberry Lane entrance of North Chagrin
    Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Willoughby Hills. For

    Hinckley Lake Boathouse � Hinckley Reservation



    Witness the spectacular display of wildflowers in Hinckley
    Reservation. Hillsides and valleys are lined with beautiful spring
    ephemerals: trilliums, violets and many more.  Hinckley Lake
    Boathouse is located off West Drive in Hinckley Reservation,
    between Bellus and State roads in Hinckley Township. For more

    Join Naturalist Min Keung to take a leisurely bike ride on the
    all-purpose trail. Search for ephemeral spring wildflowers along
    the way. Registration is required. Bring your own bike and helmet

    Egbert Picnic Area � Bedford Reservation



    Join Volunteer Naturalist Fred Losi on a hike below the Little
    Overlook. Canvas the terraced, hemlock-lined woodlands above and
    along Tinkers Creek in search of spring wildflowers. Bring a lunch
    and a camera. Egbert Picnic Area is located off Gorge Parkway in
    Bedford Reservation, off Egbert Road in Walton Hills. For more

    Wonderful Wildflowers of Hinckley



    Saturday, April 30 � 2 - 4 p.m.



    Johnson's Picnic Area � Hinckley Reservation



    Hinckley Reservation boasts some of the most spectacular
    wildflower displays of any woodland in Northeast Ohio. Join
    Naturalist Debra Shankland for a hike to see what's blooming this
    week. Johnson's Picnic Area is located off West Drive in Hinckley
    Reservation, between Bellus and State roads in Hinckley Township.

    Each spring, typically between mid-March and the end of April,
    several flower species begin to bloom throughout the �Emerald
    Necklace.� A spring wildflower trail can be found by Mastick Woods
    Picnic Area, as well as the Hauser Wildflower Garden at Rocky River
    Nature Center in Rocky River Reservation. Royalview Picnic Area in
    Mill Stream Run Reservation is famous for bluebells, and other
    common spring wildflowers like trillium, spring beauty, trout lily,
    and many more can be found in a number of areas throughout the Park
    District.
