Spring is almost here, and April marks the change in seasons at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. So whether you make like a kangaroo, or a bunny, you better hop to it! Time is running out to take advantage of the discounted winter admission rate of $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 2-11. Starting April 1 summer seasonal rates take effect, $11 for adults and $8 for children ages 2-11. As always, children younger than 2 and Zoo members are free.

Australian Adventure Reopens for the Season

The first of the Zoo's seasonal exhibits and activities re-opens for the year April 1 at Australian Adventure.

Spring is an exciting time around the Zoo's 8-acre Australian Adventure exhibit. While GumLeaf Hideout, home to the koalas and tree kangaroos is open all year, the rest of Australian Adventure is buttoned down for the winter. But come spring, the red and gray kangaroos, wallabies and wallaroos venture back outside. The snake slide at the Yagga Tree is ready, the sheep, goats and donkeys are back in the contact yard at Kookaburra Station, you can visit with the New Guinea singing dogs and weather permitting, take a ride on the Boomerang Railway.

There are educational activities in the Reinberger Homestead to do, and weather permitting, birds to feed in the Lorikeet Aviary. Camel rides return for the season in Australian Adventure on May 6, and daily live animal shows begin in the Ballarat Theatre on May 30.

    Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Reservations are still available for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny in the Zoo's Primate, Cat and Aquatics Building. There are two Saturdays scheduled for this popular event, April 16 and 23. Doors open at 8 a.m. and breakfast goes from 8:30-9:30 a.m. both days, and features crafts, an animal encounter, egg hunt, face painting and an opportunity to get your picture with the bunny himself. The menu features scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, a fruit smoothie station, bagel station, orange juice, coffee and milk.

To make a reservation, call (216) 635-3300. Tickets are $22.50 for adults, $18.50 for children ages 2-11 and they include admission to the Zoo and The RainForest.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Discounted winter admission through March 31 is just $7 per person, $5 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 77, 90 and 480.
