Squaw Rock Picnic Area � South Chagrin
Reservation
Ever hear the unfortunate tale of the Bentleyville Giant?
Accompany family and friends this evening to uncover this mystery
that surrounds the legend. Bring a sense of adventure, hiking
boots, a digital camera and map reading skills to this ages 8 and
older program. Registration by August 3 at noon is
required. Squaw Rock Picnic Area is located off Hawthorn
Parkway in South Chagrin Reservation, east of SOM Center Road/Route

Cool of the Pines Hike

Enjoy a short hike along the White Pine trail. Escape the
heat of summer among the dappled shade of the forest while
exploring a little of Cleveland Metroparks history.
Strawberry Picnic Area is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off
the Strawberry Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM

Herbs: Lore & Legends

Herbs have a fascinating history in both their uses and their
stories. Join Naturalist Kathy Schmidt for this indoor/outdoor
program highlighting the lore of plants found in the herb garden at
the Rocky RiverNatureCenter, located at 24000 Valley Parkway in
Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North

Primitive Skills Day
Saturday, August 27 �10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal
Reservation
From 10 a.m. to noon, watch craftsmen perform outdoors skills
the old-fashioned way. See free demonstrations of Dutch oven
cooking, cordage making, knot-tying, fire making, bow & arrow
construction, and land navigation. Then, from 1 to 4p.m.,
ages 13 and older (16 and older for bow & arrow), can learn any
of the skills in hand-on workshops. Registration is $5 to $12
for the hands-on workshops and is required. CanalWayCenter is
located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of
Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal

Discovering The Lawrence Grist
Mill

Discover the history of the Lawrence Grist mill. Join
Naturalist Dave Miller and learn how to grind grains with the power
of water. An optional 1-mile hike to the ruins follows the indoor
