Cleveland Metroparks naturalists have teamed up
to offer a new year-long hiking series to hike with the public on
    their favorite trails.

The series was the brainchild of Naturalist Pam
Taylor.  Over the years, Taylor has answered the question many
times, "Where is your favorite place to hike in Cleveland
Metroparks?"  Now, instead of just saying where Taylor
enjoys hiking, all Cleveland Metroparks naturalists will help lead
hikes to some of their favorite places through the "Around the
    Emerald Necklace" hiking series.

Twenty-three hikes offered through 2011 will
rotate throughout most of the reservations within Cleveland
Metroparks.  Hikes will be held on Thursday mornings from 9:30
to 11:30 a.m. with varying distances and terrain types depending on
    location.

The first February "Around the Emerald
Necklace" is Thursday, February 10 at 9:30 a.m. beginning at
GarfieldParkNatureCenter and hiking around Garfield Park
Reservation. Dress for the weather and be prepared to hike 3.5
    miles.  For details, call 216-341-3152.

The series continues on Thursday, February 24 at
9:30 a.m. with a hike starting at the Brookside Valley Event Site's
picnic shelter in Brookside Reservation. Dress for the weather
and be prepared to hike and climb stairs for a 1.5-mile hike.
    For details, call 216-206-1000.

GarfieldParkNatureCenter is located off the Broadway Avenue
entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights - north
    of the I-480/Broadway Avenue exit.

Brookside Valley Event Site is located off John
Nagy Blvd., off the Ridge Rd. entrance of Brookside Reservation in
Cleveland - north of the I-480/Ridge Rd. exit.
