Mother's Day is always a special celebration at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, with FREE admission for all moms to the Zoo and RainForest. This year, moms are in for an extra treat because Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, happens to fall on the final day of the Zoo's grand opening weekend celebration of African Elephant Crossing!
The Zoo's newest exhibit, African Elephant Crossing, opens Thursday May 5 and the four day party culminates on Mother's Day with Radio Disney from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the Tam Tam Magic Drummers from 1-2 p.m.
Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital will provide additional fun and activities on Mother's Day including a soccer fitness activity, free photo booth, elephant coloring pages and crossword puzzles, blood pressure screenings and a special display about what elephants eat.
There are also new Zoo moms to visit including a pied bare-faced tamarin with two babies in The RainForest and a mother koala with a joey in Australian Adventure.
You can even start celebrating mom before the Zoo opens on May 8 by reserving a spot at the annual Mother's Day Breakfast in The RainForest.
