Annual event celebrates 21 years at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

After 21 years of sold out, spooky fun, it's safe to say Boo at the Zoo is a Halloween classic in Greater Cleveland. CMZ's not-too-scary event is a family favorite stop on the haunted trail for everyone from young children to the young at heart.

This year, Boo at the Zoo runs from 6-9 p.m. October 21-24 and 28-31. Tickets are on sale now at clemetzoo.com, or at the Zoo box office from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Save money by buying your tickets early. Tickets are $7 in September and $8 in October. Children younger than 2 are free and Zoo Members receive $1 off the ticket price.

Kids (and their parents) are encouraged to wear fun costumes and experience the Zoo after dark. There are loads of silly and safe Halloween activities planned, and all kids receive a complimentary treat bag.

New for Boo this year is Ghostly Golf, a mini-golf putting green, which will be set up near the Hay Maze. There's also the Jack O' Lantern Express train ride, Haunting On the High Seas live animal show, Monster Mash Dance Party and plenty of opportunities to see animals up close with Meet the Keeper programs.

Magicians, stilt-walkers, witches, clowns, jugglers, storytellers and more will roam the Zoo. Radio Disney will be set up at Rising Waters campsite and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital will offer tips on staying safe on Halloween at their Safety Zone inside the Center for Zoological Medicine.

Only a special event like Boo could transform the Zoo into such a neat Halloween adventure where the sights and sounds of the season lurk safely around every corner. Kids can explore the Not-So-Haunted Greenhouse, get their picture taken with a costumed character and make a creepy craft.

Attendees are encouraged to bring flashlights to illuminate some of the darker areas of the Zoo. Allow extra travel time to drive safely in and out of the Zoo.

Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 77, 90 and 480. Parking is free.
