Now is the perfect time of year to enjoy fall colors in Cleveland
Metroparks on a leisurely hayride.
The Fall Hayrides continue on Saturday nights, October 16, 23 and
30 from 6 to 10 p.m., and Sunday afternoons, October 17, 24 and 31
from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors climb aboard haywagons at
the Chalet Recreation Area for leisurely rides through the
beautiful fall colors of Mill Stream Run Reservation in
Strongsville.
The public, tractor-drawn hayrides are offered on a first-come,
first-served basis, and leave approximately every
half-hour.
In addition to the hayrides, everyone can enjoy other free
activities, including square dancing fun for all ages, scavenger
hunts, a hay maze, and a face-painting and balloon-twisting
clown.
On Sundays, free bonus activities include Pumpkin Carving 101
with Professor Patty Pumpkin, a pumpkin painting station, live
animals, Ranger demonstrations, NatureTracks outreach vehicle, and
free treat bags for kids, 11 and under, dressed in Halloween
costumes (with a paid ticket).
And, on Sundays, October 17 and 24, enjoy free entertainment
with "Haystack the Scarecrow," and on Sundays, October 24
& 31, enjoy free special Halloween games and
activities.
Plus, ClevelandStateUniversity's Street Team and mascot
"Magnus" will be at the Chalet Hayrides on Sunday,
October 24 with games and activities for kids to play, too!
The public hayrides are just $7.50 per adult and $5.50 for kids,
ages 3 to 11. Kids, ages 2 and under, ride free on an adult
lap.
A limited number of private hayrides for group outings are also
available on October weekends. Wagons can be rented for
outings like school trips, senior outings, family get-togethers, or
informal business gatherings. Advance reservations are
required for all private hayrides. Each wagon accommodates
approximately 20 people. The private hayrides are held
before, during and after the public outings on Saturdays and
Sundays. The cost for private rides is $145 per
haywagon. Visitors can also enjoy "dayrides" on
Fridays, October 15 and 29 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The
"dayrides" cost $85 per haywagon. Private rental of
the Chalet Recreation Area, including hayrides, is also available
throughout October during non-public hours.
The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in
Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in
Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio
Turnpike.
