You can feel it in the air!  The winter season is fast
approaching, and winter recreational thrill seekers are anxiously
waiting to take Northeast Ohio's ultimate winter thrill ride.
A ride on the Chalet Toboggan Chutes of Cleveland Metroparks - the
only public ice chutes in Ohio!

Beginning Friday, November 26 and continuing through the first
weekend of March 2011, everyone is invited to the Chalet Recreation
Area in Strongsville to experience the thrill of tobogganing on
    ice.

Riders climb aboard a traditional wooden toboggan, but that's where
the tradition ends . . . The twin, refrigerated ice chutes are
approximately 700 icy feet long with an initial vertical drop of 70
feet.  It's a fast and fun ride, and best of all, the Chalet
Toboggan Chutes operate with or without snow!

Special Opening Day hours (Friday, November 26) are noon to 10:30
    p.m., weather permitting.

This season's public tobogganing hours are:

     Thursdays        6 to 10 p.m. (in
    January and February
    2011)

    Fridays
     6 to 10:30
    p.m.

     Saturdays        noon to 10:30
    p.m.

     Sundays          noon to
    5 p.m.

     Holidays          call
for Holiday Hours (Dec. 20 through Jan. 2, 2011, and January 17
    & February
    21)

The Chalet Toboggan Chutes provide a great winter thrill at a great
price!  The daily admission fee is only $8 for adults,
and  $6 for children, ages 11 and under, which includes
unlimited use of toboggans for the day.  One-time ride tickets
    are also available for $3.

Season passes to the Chalet Toboggan Chutes are a great deal for
avid winter thrill-seekers.  Season passes are available at
$35 for adults, $25 for children, ages 11 and under, and only $100
for a family (up to four people).  And, if that isn't a great
deal already, season passes purchased before December 24 are
discounted at 20% off the regular price, plus pass holders will
also receive a special gift and a one-day pass for a guest!
    What a deal!

Group discount rates, for 20 or more people, are available for
rides during public hours.  Groups must be scheduled at least
two weeks in advance.  Group rates are not valid for season
    pass holders.

The Chalet Recreation Area, including the use of the toboggan
chutes, can be rented for private exclusive use during non-public
hours.  Call 440-572-9990 for more information and to make
    reservations.

Visitors should also check out clevelandmetroparks.com to find the
Promotional Schedule for the toboggan season, and see a great array
of events and discounts for the tobogganing season.

In addition to tobogganing on the refrigerated ice chutes, the
Chalet facility features two fireplaces (indoor and outdoor), a
main gathering area with a large-screen television, a snack bar, a
loft area with video games, and indoor restrooms.

All riders must wear gloves or mittens.  Children must be at
least 42 inches tall to ride, and must be accompanied by an
adult.  Personal toboggans are not allowed at the
    facility.

The two, refrigerated ice chutes are approximately 10 feet apart
for the entire length of the run, and are made from precast
concrete supported on caissons.  The caissons are drilled
concrete shafts extending approximately two-feet deep into the
ground.  And, because the chutes are refrigerated and with the
right weather conditions, they can be operable in temperatures in
    the low 50s!

The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in
Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in
Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio
    Turnpike.

For more information and for group or private reservations, call
    440-572-9990.

Get ready!  It's almost time to enjoy tobogganing on the
only public ice chutes in Ohio - the Chalet Toboggan Chutes
of Cleveland Metroparks - part of your life,
    naturally.
