    Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to experience the fur trade
    era and become a voyageur of long ago.  Visitors can step back
    in time and participate in this living history program paddling,
    singing and hearing the tales of this important time in Great Lakes
    history on the "Voyageur Canoe Paddles."

     

    The 34-foot canoe is a fiberglass replica of the original Voyageur
    canoes, which were used to travel the Great Lakes from Montreal to
    Lake Superior, and the eastern shores of Minnesota in the 18th and
    19th centuries.

     

    Register now for the "Voyageur Canoe Paddles" offered in
    June:

     

    Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 � Hinckley Lake � Hinckley
    Reservation

    Saturday, June 19 and Sunday June 20 � Wallace Lake � Mill Stream
    Run Reservation

             

    The canoe shoves off at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
    each of the scheduled dates.

     

    Each program is an hour-long.  The canoe can accommodate 18
    people per voyage.  Life jackets, educational fun and a safe
    environment are provided.

     

    Registration is required.  The fee is $5 per person.

     

    HinckleyLake is located between West Drive and East Drive in
    Hinckley Reservation, south of Bellus Road in HinckleyTownship.

     

    WallaceLake is located off Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run
    Reservation, south of Bagley Road in Berea - west of
    the   I-71/Bagley Road exit.

     

    The Voyageur Canoe Paddle programs are offered monthly through
    October.
