Cleveland Metroparks offers a great opportunity to explore the
"Emerald Necklace" by bicycle. The "Tour de
Necklace" Bicycle Rides in the Park District continue through
October!
Join volunteers Bruce Amsel and Lynda Warner for free monthly
rides of 13 to 30 miles in and around the beautiful "Emerald
Necklace" on Sundays.
The rides, with easy to moderate difficulty at an easy pace,
include stops for natural and historical interpretation and lunch.
Rides begin and end at the same point starting at 9:30 a.m.and
returning around 3 p.m., depending on distance. Riders can enjoy
any or all of the tours.
This year's "Tour de Necklace" Bicycle Rides continue
once a month on Sundays as follows:
Sunday, June 20
Big Creek Reservation, including the newly-opened Lake to Lake
Trail 14 miles - begin at Fern Hill Picnic Area
Sunday, July 18
Rocky River Reservation
28 miles - begin at the Emerald Necklace Marina
Sunday, August 15
Bedford Reservation
13 miles - begin at ViaductPark
Sunday, September 19
South Chagrin Reservation
14 miles - begin at Look About Lodge
Sunday, October 10
North Chagrin Reservation to South Chagrin Reservation
30 miles - begin at Whispering Woods Picnic Area
Registration is required, and space is limited. Exact meeting
locations given upon registration.
All riders should bring a sack lunch and water bottle, and
helmets are required.
The rides are open to ages 14 and over. Children, ages 14 to 17,
must be accompanied by an adult.
