    Join Cleveland Metroparks, to travel back in time and explore the
    diverse history of the 93-year-old "Emerald
    Necklace."

     

    Visitors can take part in the following free, history-related
    programs offered this July: 

     

    Lets Hike Huntington

    Wednesday, July 7 �
    8 - 9:30 a.m.  

    Wolf Picnic Area �
    Huntington Reservation

    There's a lot of history waiting to be discovered in Huntington
    Reservation. Adults are invited to join Naturalist Bethany Majeski
    on a 1-mile hike to search out interesting plants, sink their toes
    in the sand of the beach, and find out just who John Huntington
    was.  Wolf Picnic Area is located off Porter Creek Drive in
    Huntington Reservation, off Wolf Road in Bay Village. For more

    Exploration Station: Tinsmithing On The Canal

    Saturday, July 10 �
    11 a.m. - 3  p.m.

    CanalWayCenter
    � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

    The fun is waiting for you along the canal! Join one of the
    historical interpreters to learn something about the trade of
    tinsmithing. Try tin-hole punching and take home the creation any
    time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.CanalWayCenter is located on
    Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio &
    Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in
    CuyahogaHeights. For more information, call 216-206-1000.

     

    Where The Buffalo And Elk Roamed

    Wednesday, July 10 �
    1:30 - 3:30 p.m.  

    Rocky RiverNatureCenter
    � Rocky River
    Reservation

    Discover Ohio's historic habitats on this 3.5-mile hike with
    Naturalist David Dvorak. On the way, explore the life history of
    the buffalo and elk, and look at habitats and how animals use them.
    Rocky RiverNatureCenter is located at 24000 Valley Parkway in Rocky
    River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted. For

    Bike Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

    Thursday, July 22 �

    It's time for a summer bike ride! Join Cleveland Metroparks staff
    members Doug Kusak and Jill Hauger as they lead a 12-mile
    history/nature adventure on the all purpose trail.  Helmets
    are required to participate. Registration, beginning July 1, is
    required. Harvard Avenue parking lot is located off Old Harvard
    Avenue in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Harvard Avenue
    and Jennings Road in Cleveland. For more information and to

    Hidden Story Hike

    Tuesday, July 27 �
    9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  

    Codrington Picnic Area � Bradley Woods Reservation

    Bradley Woods Reservation is breath-taking, filled with special
    ferns, flowers and animals. But, on this 2.5-mile, guided hike
    learn about some other interesting and entertaining back stories
    that will give a bigger picture of the place. Codrington Picnic
    Area is located off White Oak Lane in Bradley Woods Reservation,
    off Bradley Road in Westlake. For more information, call
