Get ready to count!
The 14th Annual Chagrin Valley
Butterfly Count on Sunday, June 27, includes a day of counting and
identifying butterflies by teams of butterfly spotters throughout
the ChagrinValley. Participants can join in the fun, learn
something new and contribute to the North American Butterfly
Association's international survey and long-term monitoring
program.
The count takes place from 9:30 a.m.to 4:30
p.m. Counters, ages 8 and older, need to bring a sack lunch,
wear long pants and meet at NorthChagrinNatureCenter. Participants
do not have to spend the entire day, and can register to join the
program in the morning or in the afternoon or the entire day.
Registration and a $3 fee per person (for report publication)
are required.
In recent years, spotters found 36 different types of
butterflies, including tiger swallowtails, monarchs, striped
