Find out how Cleveland Metroparks Zoo keeps its grounds flourishing with flowers and plants during the annual ZooBlooms event on Saturday, July 17. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with special activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ZooBlooms showcases the Zoo's 183 acres of flora from around the world. Highlights include a guided tour, a ladybug release, eco-friendly crafts, composting demonstrations and seminars to help guests with their own backyard gardens.
Here's the full schedule of activities for ZooBlooms:
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Good Nature Organic Lawn Care display
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: AT&T Real Yellow Pages Project ReDirectory - Make a paper pot out of a phonebook page and plant it in your garden
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District Backyard Composting Display - Learn how you can make your own compost
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Family Activity Center - Enjoy eco-friendly activities including leaf etching, seed bracelets, and more
11 a.m. and 4 p.m.: Tram tours of the Zoo's gardens with Manager of Zoo Horticulture Don Krock
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Radio Disney activity area with music, dancing and games
12:15 p.m.: Help release thousands of ladybugs into the Zoo's gardens
1 p.m.: "Zoo Gardens over the Years," presented by Jeff DeLuca, Zoo Horticulturist
2 p.m.: "Edible Flowers - Taste the Sensation" - Learn how to use edible flowers in cooking
3 p.m.: "Take the Silver Streak - Using Plants with Silver, Gray and Variegated Foliage in Your Gardens" presented by Don Krock, Zoo Manager of Horticulture
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with extended summer weekend hours. Admission is $10 per person, $7 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members.
