Paddle back in time with Cleveland Metroparks aboard a 34-foot
canoe and experience the fur trade era as a voyageur.
The Voyageur Canoe Paddles are one-hour living history programs
immersing participants in a trip back to the fur trade era.
Participants can sing along to French Canadian paddle songs and
hear tales from fur trade men of long ago.
The program provides the opportunity for individuals, friends and
families to learn about the Great Lakes fur trade era in a unique
and active way.
Each participant paddles the large, 18-seat canoe at either
HinckleyLake or WallaceLake. The canoe is a fiberglass replica of
the original Voyageur canoes, which were used to travel the Great
Lakes from Montreal to Lake Superior and the eastern shores of
Minnesota in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Voyageur Canoe Paddles are on the following Saturdays and
Sundays this summer and fall:

Life jackets, educational fun and a safe environment are
provided.
Registration and a $5 fee per person are required. Space is
limited.
HinckleyLake is located between West Drive and East Drive in
Hinckley Reservation, south of Bellus Road in
HinckleyTownship.
WallaceLake is located off Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run
Reservation, south of Bagley Road in Berea.
