Cleveland Metroparks invites outdoor lovers of all ages to go back to school this year - the School of the Wilds, that is.
School of the Wilds, a monthly series of field seminars that teach a different aspect of the area's natural and cultural history, is offered on select Sundays at Rocky River Nature Center. Participants can attend any of the free programs throughout the year that typically include indoor and outdoor sessions, with classroom demonstrations and discussions that are applied to the field.
Some of this year's topics include: Fish of the Rocky River, Ohio Turtles, Devonian Fossil Fishes, Mushrooms, and Raptors.

Join Cleveland Metroparks official mapmaker Stephen Mather for a closer look at how modern maps are made and how they can be utilized to better understand complex and diverse ecosystems. After an indoor presentation, attendees will put their feet on the ground and see if they can follow the map.
School of the Wilds: Reptiles of Ohio

Lake Metroparks Naturalist Andy Avrum gives a live tour of the snakes and turtles that call Ohio home. After an indoor lesson, the group heads out to the wetlands in search of early reptiles.
