    recreational and educational, join Cleveland Metroparks Institute
    of the Great Outdoors (IGO) on adventure trips and outdoor skill
    classes ranging from A to Z!

    a wide range of outdoor experience to people of all
    abilities.

    will enjoy the knowledge and expertise of seasoned instructors with
    all IGO courses and have fun at the same time.

    upcoming courses offered this spring, IGO is currently accepting
    registrations for the following boating-related courses:




    Kayaking I:
    Introduction to Kayaking

    Lakewood



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Feeling �cooped up� due to the
    weather? Come to Lakewood High School to learn how to kayak. This
    class is a combination of classroom and on-the-water practice.
    Learn types of kayaks and safety equipment and practice basic
    paddle strokes. Participants should be prepared to get wet during
    the pool session.

    & over. There is a $40 fee.

    5:30 p.m.



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Lakewood High School �
    Lakewood



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman';">This special class is designed
    as continuing education to the Kayaking I course. Anyone who has
    completed an IGO Kayaking I or Kayaking II class in 2009 or 2010 is
    invited to take this class to learn more advanced paddling strokes,
    wet exits, rescue techniques, and to practice previously taught
    skills. The class takes place in the pool; come prepared to get
    wet. Ages: 16 and over. There is a $25 fee.



     



    Ohio Boaters
    Education Class

    April 21, 28 & May 5 � 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 10.0pt;">Garfield
    Park Nature Center � Garfield Park Reservation



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman';">This three day class, approved
    by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators
    (NASBLA), teaches tools to become a better boater. Topics covered,
    include handling boating emergencies. Successful completion of this
    course meets the mandatory education requirement for those persons
    born on or after January 1, 1982 who plan to operate a watercraft
    of 10hp or greater. Registration begins March 1. Ages: 16 years
    & over. There is a $15 fee.



     



    American Canoe
    Association Canoe & Kayak Instructor Certification
    Workshop

    June 11 through Sunday, June 13 � 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.,
    daily



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 10.0pt;">Hinckley
    Reservation



    " font-family: 'Times New Roman';">This three-day workshop follows
    standards established by the American Canoe Association (ACA) and
    is designed for individuals and programmers interested in offering
    certified canoe and kayak instruction. Candidates will practice
    skills, and on the last day present a minimum of two subjects in
    the classroom and on the water. Upon successful completion of the
    workshop, participants can receive instructor certification through
    the ACA.

    previous
    paddling experience required. All participants must be members of
    the ACA & Safety Education and Instruction Committee (SEIC)
    prior to the program. To be a member, visit "http://www.americancanoe.org/">www.americancanoe.org.. There
    is a $225 fee per person (includes instructor manual, text
    materials and all necessary paddling equipment).

    adaptation and assessment to make outdoor recreation opportunities
    available to all individuals, regardless of ability.

    have prerequisites, including a level of proficiency and knowledge.
